Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee

Mohamed Sathak Hamid College of Arts and Science for Women is committed to providing a safe, secure, and respectful learning and working environment for all students, faculty members, and employees.

The College strictly follows:

Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, and
UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015.

As mandated under law and UGC norms, the College has constituted the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to prevent and redress sexual harassment complaints in a time-bound, confidential, and sensitive manner.

Objectives of the committee

To ensure zero tolerance towards sexual harassment.
To create a safe academic and working environment for women.
To handle complaints with confidentiality, impartiality, fairness, and without victimisation.
To conduct awareness programmes, sensitisation workshops, and gender equity initiatives.

Definition of Sexual Harassment (as per POSH Act, 2013)

Sexual harassment includes any unwelcome act or behaviour (direct or implied) such as:

Physical contact or advances

Demand or request for sexual favours

Making sexually coloured remarks or gestures

Displaying pornographic content

Any other unwelcome physical, verbal, non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature

Sexual harassment can occur online, via text messages, social media, e-mails, or photographs as well.

Complaint & Redressal Mechanism

Any student, staff, or stakeholder who experiences or witnesses sexual harassment may:

Submit a written complaint (hard copy)

Send complaint to official ICC email: icc@mshcasw.in

Approach any ICC member in person

All complaints will be treated with strict confidentiality. No retaliation will be tolerated.

Acknowledgement → Preliminary Inquiry → Formal Investigation → Recommendation of Action to the Principal
