Mohamed Sathak Hamid College of Arts and Science for Women strictly adhere to the regulations of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in implementing measures to prevent and eliminate ragging in all its forms.
Ragging in any form is a criminal offence and is strictly prohibited within the campus, hostels, and any part of the institution’s jurisdiction. The college has established a comprehensive Anti-Ragging mechanism to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all students.

This Anti-Ragging Cell functions under the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, issued under Section 26(1)(g) of the UGC Act, 1956. The regulations are mandatory for all higher education institutions in India and are legally binding.
The Anti-Ragging Committee is the apex body constituted by the college to oversee and ensure the implementation of all provisions related to anti-ragging. It includes representatives from faculty, administration, students, parents, and the local community. The College maintains liaison with the local police authorities for preventive awareness programmes.

The Anti-Ragging Squad functions as the active monitoring group under the Committee. It conducts surprise inspections, maintains vigilance, and responds immediately to any reported or suspected incidents of ragging.

Conduct preliminary inquiry on complaints and submit reports to the Committee.

The Mentoring Cell is a proactive support structure designed to guide and assist first-year students in adjusting to the academic and social environment of the college. Details of mentors and mentees are maintained in departmental records and reviewed each semester by the Principal.
Assign senior students or faculty mentors to each group of fresher’s.
Conduct orientation, motivational, and counselling sessions.
Provide emotional and academic support to newcomers.
Act as a bridge between students and the administration.

Mohamed Sathak Hamid College of Arts and Science for Women ensures a safe and supportive campus environment. Any student who experiences or witnesses ragging may submit a written or online complaint directly to the Public Information Officer / Anti-Ragging Coordinator, or report the incident to any faculty mentor, class advisor, or the Principal’s office. Complaints can also be sent through the official college e-mail ID or via the drop box kept in the main office.
On receiving a complaint, the Anti-Ragging Committee immediately convenes a preliminary inquiry, records statements, and, if required, refers the case to the Disciplinary Authority for further action. Confidentiality and fairness are maintained throughout the process.
The outcome and actions taken are communicated to the complainant in writing.

All complaints are treated with utmost confidentiality and seriousness.
As per UGC and institutional regulations, any student found guilty of ragging is liable to one or more of the following actions:
Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
Withholding of results or scholarships.
Debarment from examinations or campus activities.
Suspension or expulsion from hostel.
Rustication from the institution.
Filing of criminal complaint as per law.
